This year, our class will be focusing on one main reading strategy per month.  Each strategy has been linked to a form of writing that students will be studying and mastering.
in February, we will continue inferring by looking at many different types of poetry. Students will infer things about the author of the poem, the mood of the poem, and the purpose of the poem.  Students will also practise using different literary techniques (such as repetition, rhyme, metaphor and simile) when writing.  Students will create an anthology of the poems that they write.

Reading Learning Goal

- to infer the author's purpose, the meaning, and the mood of a poem.

WRiting Learning Goal

- to write several effective poems that express a mood, theme, or idea.
